CASTLEDALE
Castledale was a racehorse of exceptional quality, winning at Gr.1 level on both dirt and turf. He won the Gr.3 Generous Stakes at two, before winning the Gr.1 Santa Anita Derby at three and the Gr.1 Shoemaker Mile at four. At the time of a career ending injury Castledale was ranked third by an international thoroughbred panel for the Breeder’s Cup Turf Mile behind eventual 2005 Breeders Cup winner Artie Schiller and above 2005 International Topweight miler Leroidesanimaux, 2004 Breeders’ Cup winner Singletary, Dubawi, Rakti, Valaxir etc.
Castledale is the son of a record breaking, world champion racehorse Peintre Celebre, who is the sire of twelve individual Gr.1 winners. Peintre Celebre has sired more Gr.1 winners than any other sire in the world that went to stud in 1999!
Castledale’s sire line hails back to sire of sires Nureyev, and his female family descends from Gr.1 placed Secretariat mare Secretariat Queen (Grand-dam of Gr. 1 Keeper).
